Laura Chang

DO Board-Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Dr. Chang is a highly compassionate psychiatrist with a strong commitment to improving the mental health and well-being of young people. Board-certified in both General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Chang brings a comprehensive understanding of mental health care to every patient she treats. She completed her General Psychiatric residency at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital and her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at the University of Chicago. She holds a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Vallejo, CA.

Before joining Plena Mind Center, Dr. Chang served as the Medical Director of the inpatient Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. In addition to her role as medical director, Dr. Chang also provided psychiatric consult-liaison services to pediatric patients on various medical units, including the oncology and PICU floors. As the primary consult liaison psychiatrist, Dr. Chang was responsible for the psychiatric management of medically hospitalized patients, overseeing multidisciplinary care, and guiding treatment teams to provide high-quality mental health support to children and their families.

As a dedicated child psychiatrist, Dr. Chang is passionate about working closely with children and their families to navigate the challenges of mental health. Her approach centers on restoring hope and providing support during times when things may feel overwhelming. She believes in empowering her patients, helping them find strength and resilience throughout their treatment journey.
